Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey is another Caldecott Medal winner. The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter is the timeless tale of a mischievous little bunny in Mr. Marshmallow by Clare Turlay Newberry is the classic true tale of Oliver the cat and Marshmallow the bunny who become unexpected friends. I love how this book opens vertically and through a living story teaches the different parts of the plants that we eat.Ģ. The Tale of Three Trees by Angela Elwell Hunt Favorite Spring Picture Booksġ. Tops and Bottoms by Janet Stephens is the hilarious tale of a lazy bear and an industrious and clever rabbit who grow vegetables in their gardens. If you have a little girl in your family with big dreams, this book is for them!ĩ. The Country Bunny and the Little Golden Shoes by DuBose Heyward is the classic story of Cottontail who even after having 21 baby bunnies desires to become the Easter Bunny. The Golden Egg Book by Margaret Wise Brown is the perfect book for the toddler/preschool crowd, written by the beloved author of Goodnight Moon.Ĩ. The illustrations and story are delightful.ħ. This book won the Caldecott Medal for a reason. The Egg Tree by Katherine Milhous is a classic Easter story highlighting the Pennsylvania Dutch. Highlighting the Ukrainian style of egg making, this story can lead to a great Geography lesson.Ħ.

The Easter Story by Carol Heyer is the true Easter account told with magnificent illustrations.ĥ. The Legend of the Easter Egg by Lori Walburg- This story is written by the folks that brought us The Legend of the Candy Cane. The Parable of the Lily by Liz Curtis Higgs is a precious tale for Easter with a great object lesson for the little ones.ģ. Beautiful illustrations bring this heart-warming tale to life.Ģ. Jan Brett is one of my all time favorite children’s authors and illustrators. I talk in this post about how I keep those all organized. It also means it is time to replace the seasonal books in my picture book basket. Getting out in the sunshine, looking at the beautiful flowers, and hearing the return of the birds’ songs are so delightful. The dreary days of Winter hang on my soul.
